In addition to facing and rescuing deadly, awesome predators such as Tyrannosaurus rex the King of the Dinosaurs, the Saber-toothed cat Smilodon, the armored fish Dunkleosteus, and the bizarre Anomalocaris one of the first large super predators on Earth, the Kratt brothers and the rest of the Wild Kratts team would also have to face, battle, and brave natural elements such asteroid impact events, erupting volcanoes, ice ages, and sticky tar pits. Using the time traveling Tortuga HQ, the Wild Kratts travel to any period in prehistory, encountering dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, bringing them to the park, and, like they did in Wild Kratts, using their Creature Power of them, they'll follow the lives of these amazing animals, learning how they live, fought, survive, nurture their young, why they became extinct, how they're related to modern animals, and how they were so successful. The Cenozoic era, the "Age of Mammals", when mammals dominated the world after surviving the K-Pg event, occupying niches left vacated by the non-avian dinosaurs and other sauropsids, giving rise to many modern animals including humans, while our planet was becoming more familiar than ever for the last 66 million years. This era came to an end 66 million years ago with another mass extinction event known as the K-Pg (Cretaceous-Paleogene) Mass Extinction event, when all the dinosaurs (excluding birds) along with 75% of all plant and animal species on land and sea were wiped out by a global catastrophe as a result of a giant asteroid or comet striking the earth. Mammals appeared at this era, but remained mostly small and lived in the shadow of the dinosaurs. The Mesozoic era, the "Age of Reptiles", the time when dinosaurs and other sauropsids, big and small and both predator and prey, were the dominant animal species on land, sea, and air and were the largest land animals that ever walked the earth while one type of dinosaur eventually evolved into birds. The era was marked by two major evolutionary events from beginning to end: the Cambrian Explosion (when animal life became complex for the first time and many modern phyla's of animals evolved from a common ancestor during this event, which began around 542 million years ago) and the Permian-Triassic Mass Extinction aka the "Great Dying" (when nearly all life on Earth such as 95% of all marine life and 70% of land vertebrates were wiped out in the biggest and most catastrophic mass extinction in our planet's history, 252 million years ago). The Paleozoic era, the "Age of Early Life", the era when early, complex multicellular organisms such as animals and plants thrived and evolved in the oceans, giving rise to many groups (both extinct and living) and eventually moved out of the water and onto dry land (such as tetrapods) and evolved and thrived.2.57.3 Episode 113: Doing the Nothosaurus SwimĪfter traveling around the world to witness and follow the lives of any animals, bringing them back to the park, and protecting them from harm such as Zach and the other villains, using their Creature Power, zoologist and conservationist brothers Chris and Martin Kratt, along with their friends Aviva, Koki, and Jimmy Z, are back and this time, they are going on an epic animal mission and adventure that would take them back hundreds, thousands, and even millions of years into the past as after the main events of Wild Kratts, Aviva has upgraded the Tortuga ship to be able to time travel that would take them into any period or era in Earth's long history and so they travel into three geological eras that make up the Phanerozoic eon:.2.56 Episode 56: Mini-Madagascar Cretaceous.2.54 Episode 54: Unlikely Triassic Friendship.2.42 Episode 42: Have Yourself a Mammoth Little Christmas.2.39 Episode 39: Clan of the Cave Bears. ![]() 2.33 Episode 33: The Hatz in Transylvanian. ![]() 2.32 Episode 32: Give a Bear-dog a Bone.2.29 Episode 29: Land of the Mega-Mammal. ![]() ![]()
